Weddings on the Bay
My husband and I are very happy to have held our wedding at Marina Bay Sands.
Because we are one of the earliest couples to get married among our friends, many have been asking us why we choose to get married at MBS. Well, this is what we usually say:
When choosing the venue to get married, we were looking for landmark places of Singapore. Landmark places mean that it will be easy to tell our guests and also others many years down the road. So we nailed down to 2 locations:
1) Raffles Singapore: Having long associated with Singapore throughout history, and having hosted numerous dignities, delegates, leaders and famous people from all over the world, it is probably the most famous and exclusive hotel in Singapore.
2) Marina Bay Sands: Unlike Raffles Singapore which has a rich and long history, MBS reflects a refreshing modern side of Singapore. Its iconic architecture will be part of Singapore's skyline for a long time to come.
There were several reasons why we choose MBS over Raffles.
1) The interior design of the ballroom and cocktail reception area:
We were looking for a ballroom with min 20 tables. Raffles Singapore has only one of such ballrooms. The ballroom has high ceiling, long walk-in and no pillars blocking. However, the air-con vents were visible across the ceiling and the walls and flooring have a dusty feel.
As for MBS, there were many min 20 tables ballrooms available, all of which has high ceiling, long walk-in and no pillars blocking. The interior design, the carpeting and lighting looks grand.
But the cocktail reception area is probably why we choose MBS over Raffles. The cocktail area at Raffles is at the open space outside the ballroom with no air-con. Whereas for MBS, the cocktail area is partly air-conditioned and the guests can choose to go out to the walkway to view the city view.
2) Cost effectiveness
Price wise, Raffles is slightly more expensive than MBS. And if you sign up with MBS during their promotional period, you can get quite a great deal. I have actually attended one of the Weddings on the Bay Promotional Events before but it is actually after I have signed up with MBS. My event coordinator was very helpful for holding on to my package till the event and signing me up with the promotions offered then.
So here is a list of things my husband and I enjoyed for signing up during the promotional period:
10% off total banquet bill
Free flow of beer during dinner
Complimentary 1-night stay in a deluxe room (for wedding helpers only)
Complimentary 2-way limousine service for the wedding couple
And of course we also enjoyed the standard wedding package privileges which includes flora stands and centerpieces and stage decor, food tasting, invitation cards, 1 barrel of beer, signature books, red packet box, free flow of beverages (soft drinks and chinese tea), complimentary self-parking for 20% (actually 25% or more if you bargain) of the guests, 5 tier wedding cake with 1 real layer, wedding favors, chocolates with mini cordials, seat covers, linens, and best of all 1 night stay at the Bridal Suite, breakfast for 2 person at the Sands SkyPark, and pre/post refreshment for couple in Bridal Suite and many more which includes access to the infinity pool and lunch for 2 in the bridal suite and a big giant poster of the wedding couples and couple towels.
Below is a list of some of the things:
And because we had 20 tables, we could get one wish from the wish list which we choose complimentary bottle of house wine per confirmed table.
3) The personal touch
This section is a short one. Because both the hotels are so well known and so iconic, the customer service offered by both the hotels are top notch. My interaction with the staffs at Raffles tells me that they are very professional and at the same time, very "by the book". Whereas for MBS, the staffs are willing to go the extra mile, to re-look and re-access how things are running so that they can offer the best experience to their customers. This makes me very happy to have done my wedding at MBS.
And yes! These are the pictures from the food tasting.
I later changed the rice to noodles which the guests all loved.

Here is a picture of some of the brochures of venues we took time to explore just for learning purpose.

To side track a little, these are some of the pictures I gathered online to give me some inspiration when it comes to decorating the ballroom.
They do not belong to me and I cannot remember the source.
